Word Has It and Cardiff Young Professionals continue to shake up networking in Cardiff

It was only at the end of last year that Word Has It was announced as an Official Partner of the networking group Cardiff Young Professionals; but since then the partnership has already seen Word Has It plan and manage three successful events held for young professionals across Cardiff.

Given CYP’s motto of ‘networking with a twist’ and Word Has It’s eye for innovation, the networking events these two power houses put on were never going to be your run-of-the-mill corporate dinners! The first event held in January at Waterloo Tea House in Wnydham Arcade was called ‘Detox Vs Retox’. True to its name, the event saw attendees offered a series of delicious healthy snacks and non-alcoholic beverages versus a host of indulgent sweet treats and alcoholic tipples.

The event was attended by a host of entrepreneurs and young professionals from across Cardiff, all of which faced the dilemma of whether they were going to be a saint or a sinner during the often alcoholic-free and healthy-eating month of January. We can’t resist a slice of cake at Word Has It and so you could find us firmly located next to the delicious cakes all night long…

The next stop for CYP and Word Has It was La Cha Cha, located on Cardiff’s very own Costa Del Sol for a night of networking, tapas and sangria at our Fiesta-themed event.  Although the CYP serves young professionals wanting to meet like-minded people in and around Cardiff, we made sure that attendees felt like they were on the Spanish Riviera thanks to the authentic Spanish décor of La Cha Cha.

The sound of sizzling chorizo, home-cooked skillets of paella, juicy meatballs and Spanish tortillas must have been too tempting, with the CYP celebrating one of their best attended events in recent time with almost 50 young professionals in attendance.  Anyone who has already been to a CYP event will know that they are renowned for throwing a fun party; and with the Sangria, Rioja and a vast selection of alcoholic beverages from La Cha Cha’s wine bar flowing all night, the event was another roaring success for Word Has It!

Finally, last month, we called upon the help of three famous faces, as we launched CYP’s latest exciting event named the ‘Celeb Latte Throwdown’. Ahead of the event, Waterloo Tea House’s head barista took Paralympic Champion Aled Davies, Apprentice star Alex Mills and Cardiff Devil’s player Luke Piggot through their paces as they learnt the skill of latte art with some interesting results…!

Each celebrity then had a chance to show off their barista and art skills during the Latte Throwdown with CYP attendees voting for their favorite design. Sadly for Alex, the sportsmen’s competitive streaks came out and both Aled and Luke were named join winners. Attendees were then invited behind the counter for a one-on-one expert barista master-class to learn the art of latte design for themselves in between enjoying the lattes, prosecoo and guilt-free snacks on offer.
